Dancing Etiquette
Success in a social activity requires awareness of accepted norms of behavior. The importance of dance etiquette to the social dancer can hardly be overstated. Etiquette is important everywhere, but especially in dancing, a delicate activity where unpleasantness has no place.
Here are some general dance etiquette guidelines to observe while at a Town and Gown dance.
- Dancing should be counter-clockwise around the edge of the dance floor.
- In-place dancing should be done in the center of the floor.
- Talking and visiting should be done on the carpeted area.
